Founded in 1834, the Université libre de Bruxelles (ULB) is located in Brussels, Belgium. At the time of its creation, it consisted in only 4 faculties, but it has now become a large institution that covers all areas of academic research. It welcomes more than 30% of international students and 50% of international PhD students, from 140 nationalities. The university also works with 350 partner institutions worldwide.
Among the university’s 12 faculties, the Solvay Brussels School of Economics & Management is distinguished by the intense, high-quality research activity of its 180 full-time professors and PhD students, and the active involvement of more than 350 leaders and experts from private and public-sector organizations in the faculty’s teaching staff. The faculty is also well-known for the entrepreneurial dynamism of its 4,000 students, and has an alumni network of more than 30,000 members all over the world. 1,000 students are registered to the faculty’s executive programs.
Founded in 1537, the University of Lausanne (UNIL) is located in Lausanne, Switzerland. It is composed of 7 faculties. Regarding research, it comprises about 190 research units working in diverse fields, such as genomics, aesthetics of cinema, and environmental law. In these units, about 3,000 researchers, including 580 professors, work every day on projects of national and international significance.
The Swiss Graduate School of Public Administration (IDHEAP) is part of the Faculty of Law, Criminal Justice, and Public Administration. It is the largest university and interdisciplinary institute for training, research and expertise dedicated exclusively to the public and parapublic sector. Founded in 1981, it has been recently integrated into the University of Lausanne (in 2014). It offers a wide range of training, including the MPA (Master of Public Administration). It cooperates with several academic institutions and associate members, and has a network for communal authorities (local level).
